Yes, but narrowly. OWCP pays chiropractors only to correct a spinal subluxation, and the x-ray has to show it.
By law, chiropractic care is covered only to correct a spinal subluxation. The chiropractor's report must include a diagnosis of spinal subluxation "as demonstrated by X-ray to exist" before OWCP will consider paying the bill.
A chiropractor can also give physical therapy type care, but only under the direction of a qualified physician who prescribes it.
For a back or neck injury, many people start with a medical doctor, such as an occupational medicine, orthopedic or physical medicine doctor, and add chiropractic or physical therapy as part of the plan. If you see a chiropractor, ask up front whether they take x-rays and are familiar with OWCP's subluxation rule.
Find offices that billed OWCP in the last 12 months near you.
Only to correct a spinal subluxation shown by x-ray. Care for other conditions, such as a shoulder or knee, generally needs a medical doctor or a physical therapist under a physician's direction.
